JOIN THE MASSACHUSETTS MUNICIPAL LAWYERS ASSOCIATION (MMLA)

MMLA is the only statewide bar association dedicated to the interest of municipal law and is open to attorneys whose practice includes providing legal services to cities and towns or otherwise substantially advancing municipal law.

Membership provides you with frequent email alerts and information regarding the practice of municipal law. MMLA sponsors webinars and in-person educational programs throughout the year. MMLA also has a very active and popular ListServ, which is invaluable to members to ask questions or share information. Our website is your key source for important municipal legal information and MMLA benefits, activities, and programs.

Applicants for membership must meet one of four (4) eligibility categories: (1) Current Municipal Attorney, (2) Past Municipal Attorney, (3) Other Municipal Attorney or (4) Law Student. Dues for the membership year (July 1 - June 30) are paid either for an (1) individual or (2) organization on behalf of all current or new eligible members. The requirements for each membership category and the current dues schedule for individuals and organizations are found here.

Applying under the Past Municipal and Other Attorney categories requires submitting an explanatory letter in which you describe your municipal practice within each of the prior three (3) years, current practice on behalf of non-municipal clients concerning municipal law issues and dealings with municipalities on behalf of those clients. Law Students must provide your resume and an explanatory letter in which you describe your interest in municipal law and identify any work you have been engaged in concerning municipal law issues.
